No Truth to Rumors of New Hobbit Release Date

Just hours ago, the web was buzzing with rumors that “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the first of the two Hobbit films, would push back its release date until 2013. The rumor also surmised that the upcoming Superman movie, “Man of Steel,” currently scheduled for a summer 2013 release, would be pushed up to take the place of Peter Jackson’s blockbuster.

Eric Eisenberg of Cinema Blend got in touch with his contact at Warner Brothers to set the record straight. Dan Fellman, the president of Domestic Distribution told him, “Contrary to inaccurate reports – “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is being released on December 14, 2012.”

So basically, if you had not yet heard the rumor, nothing has changed. If you were aware of the rumor, just pretend that it’s yesterday morning, and that you had never heard of such a ridiculous notion.
