This Wednesday, Dr. Dimitra Fimi will be speaking about Tolkien at Cardiff University. More specifically, she will be presenting her paper on “Tolkien, Kipling and Romantic Anglo-Saxonism: two ‘mythologies for England,'” which “focuses on the parallels between Tolkien’s The Book of Lost Tales (one of his earliest works, the first version of The Silmarillion) and Kipling’s Puck of Pook’s Hill. It examines these literary works via history, archaeology and folklore and traces makes a case for the importance of national identity for both writers.”
