Yesterday, Adam Brown, who plays the dwarf Ori in The Hobbit, shared how dwarf fitness training has changed his life. Click here for The 12 Days of Ori – Day 5. Today is Day 6, and it’s time to talk about the uncomfortable scenes to film.
Middle-earth News: Was there a particular scene or experience from the set of The Hobbit that you’re glad you’ll never have to repeat?
Adam Brown: Oh yes, Two!
One – Being put on the Goblin spit and being spun around like a really bad theme park ride.
Two – Having dead fish poured over the top of me whilst sitting in a barrel! Did you know I have a fish phobia… not a great combination!
Tomorrow: Adam tells us what New Zealand locations he misses most in The 12 Days of Ori – Day 7!

Author: Lily Milos
Lily’s first experience with Tolkien was when the eccentric Mrs. H performed all of the characters from The Hobbit in her seventh grade class. In high school, she felt obliged to decline a second date with a boy who said he had no interest in reading The Lord of the Rings. In college, she unwisely decided to reread her beloved copy of The Hobbit during finals week, with only semi-disastrous results.
When not writing for Middle-earth News, Lily tries not to unnerve her coworkers and family with her extreme geekery, but somehow, Star Wars, Star Trek, Sherlock, Merlin, Doctor Who, The Princess Bride, Back to the Future, superheroes, Disney movies, and of course, Tolkien, seem to have relevance in EVERY conversation.
