Last November LOTRO (The Lord of the Rings Online) launched the Update 15 introducing the new Beorning class. As previously mentioned, the new starter zone is the Vales of Anduin where the players can admire Grimbeorn’s Lodge, that lies directly to the east of the Carrock.
Grimbeorn the Old is the son of mighty Beorn, and chieftain of the Beornings. He lives at his house, Grimbeorn’s Lodge, with his kin: His three children and a few other close relatives. After a visit by the wizard Radagast and an attack on the lodge by goblins, Grimbeorn sends one of his children to the west across the Misty Mountains to warn the people of Eriador of the rising shadow of evil in Rhovanion. Reaching level 19, the beornings can complete the Enmity of the Goblins II Deed and receive the Return to Grimbeorn’s Lodge skill. It allows the players to return to the starter zone in the Vales of Anduin (goblins-free this time) and meet the Beroning trainer. The place is a circular clearing with a pond and few buildings, riding mounts isn’t allowed there and it helps you to admire the place strolling by foot. The Beornings are woodworkers and lover of all animals, that’s why the area is populated by several creatures and you’ll stumble upon cows, goats, chickens, pigs and so on. The clearing is totally closed and the players cannot quit without using a milestone to another region.
I enjoyed myself exploring the area and taking screenshots of my favourite spots. I really hope we’ll be able to take a look inside Grimbeorn’s Lodge one day!
