This summer you are welcome to attend a Tolkien Conference in New York at Baruch College. The conference is organized by Anthony Burdge and Jessica Burke of Myth Ink Books and The Northeast Tolkien Society, along with Baruch College Librarian and Author, Chris Tuthill. People are encouraged to submit papers for the event, click here to read the Call for Papers guidelines. The deadline is on April 7th, so if you would like to be part of the conference, send in your paper within the next couple weeks. Here is what is on the program so far!
Guests include Keynote Academic Speaker, Janet Brennan Croft, who is the Head of Access and Delivery Services and Assistant Professor at Rutgers University Libraries. She is the author of War in the Works of J.R.R. Tolkien and has also written on the Peter Jackson films, J.K. Rowling, Terry Pratchett, Lois McMaster Bujold, and other authors. The other is Minstrel Guest of Honor, John DiBartolo, who is a member of the Lonely Mountain Band which focuses on a self-styled genre called “Folk Fantasy” and Legendarium News & Media. And don’t worry about how much it will cost to attend because admission is free! The conference welcomes all Tolkien fans, so if you would like to learn more about Tolkien and have the opportunity to meet other fans, come to the conference! “This event is a celebration of Tolkien and his work first and foremost, we are looking for program submissions that illustrate every way a Tolkien fans honors his work, whether through scholarship, gaming, filmmaking, cosplay etc.”
