The official Tolkien Calendar for 2017 is available for pre-order and will feature J.R.R. Tolkien’s artwork and letters.
Those of you that aer part of the mailing list of the official Tolkien Store, you’ve probably already seen it. Those who are not part of that mailing list, you better sign up now! While it is still a while to go until 2017, the official Tolkien Store revealed the cover and theme for the official Tolkien Calendar 2017.
On the homepage, it says:
This year’s calendar features 13 paintings and illustrations by J.R.R. Tolkien himself, which were drawn by Tolkien when writing his beloved children’s classic, The Hobbit. They provide a fascinating insight into how Tolkien imagined the world of Middle-earth would look.
The images are accompanied by extracts from Tolkien’s letters, providing exquisite insight into both the writing process, and the illustrations themselves.
The release date is September 22nd, 2016 (what a perfect way to celebrate Hobbit Day!), but can be pre-ordered already over on tolkien.co.uk.
