Jesus Diaz of Gizmodo recorded this video of the new LEGO “Lord of the Rings” sets at the NYC Toy Fair.
First of all, I love that it’s set to music from the films! It’s also great to see all of the detail put into the sets with Gandalf’s fireworks, Gollum’s fish, and even the bucket that Peregrin Took knocks into the well in Moria. The sets look amazing and very interactive.
My next thought, however, was that I can’t wait to see what else people make with these pieces. Certainly, the first time out of the box, I think it’s befitting to follow the instructions and build the scene enclosed. But LEGO products encourage creative play, so I certainly hope no one feels compelled to follow the sets to the letter. With that in mind, I can’t wait to see what other “Lord of the Rings” scenes people create by combining or changing the sets.
And when you purchase twelve Helm’s Deeps and a few Weathertops to create your rendition of Minas Tirith, please, please send us some pictures!
