Return of the King: Viggo Sings at LOTR Screening

Actor Viggo Mortensen got into Boston a little early for his award ceremony at the Coolidge Theater. Tonight, he will be awarded the 2012 Coolidge Award. Last night, during the marathon screening of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, he appeared onstage.

Mortensen chatted a bit with the audience, and showed off his own geekiness. “It’s just three days after Aragorn’s birthday on March 1,” he said. “It was the year 2931 of the Third Age. See? I’m a geek, too!”

He also treated the audience to the song he sang as Aragorn at the coronation in The Return of the King. “Since you are geeks, some of you will know that they are the words that his forefather, Elendil, spoke when he first came to Middle-earth.”
