Athelas: Healing Herb, Award-winning Font

I ask you, what can’t Athelas do?

The December 2011 release of Apple’s iBooks 1.5 got rid of some old fonts that were nobody’s favorite (Baskerville, anyone?) but it also included 4 new fonts, Athelas being among them. The writer of this boingboing article finds Athelas quite legible on screen, despite its possessing a beauty which often renders fonts unreadable in a digital format.

According to another article about Athelas on Type Together, Athelas was featured in Tipos Latinos Exhibition 2006 and won the text type category at the Granshan Competition in 2008.

So, what do you think? Will you be using it to write your next epic fantasy novel? Or is it just a pretty name for yet another typeface?
