As we reported earlier this week, Middle-earth Weekend at Sarehole Mill was in danger after the chairman and vice chairman of the event stepped down. Locals and past attendees were disappointed, and it looked as though the event would not continue in the future.

The Birmingham Museums Trust said they would continue to support the weekend if someone stepped forward to run it.

And luckily, someone has! We were contacted by Bob Hawtin who told us, “I have stepped forward to run the Middle-earth Weekend next year with lots of help from friends! So fear not, it will not die!”

Unfortunately, there will be nothing happening this year, but Bob and his team will be ready for Middle-earth Weekend in 2015. That gives you plenty of time to perfect your Khuzdul and create an amazing costume!

Middle-earth News will keep you up to date with news of the event as it becomes available.
