Earlier this week, Sean Bean, also known as Boromir in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, celebrated his 55th birthday. Busy as ever, Sean bean will portray MacBeth in the independent feature film directed by Vincent Regan. The role of MacBeth is not unknown to Bean. In 2002, Bean portrayed the tragic antihero at London’s Albery Theatre. Now, he returns to reprise the character of MacBeth in the Enemy of Man.
The Enemy of Man will have a unique cinematic quality, stripping back the dialogue and cranking up the action. It traverses a bleak, frozen landscape of shattered castles and pillaged towns, rendering the interior world that clouds Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s addled minds, as they sink deeper into their heart of darkness. A timeless masterpiece of war, ambition, betrayal, murder and ultimately, revenge.
A few days ago, the funding for this adaptation was successfully reached through a Kickstarter campaign. Among the notable cast is Rupert Grint (Harry Potter) as Ross and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Duncan.
The concept trailer promises an exciting adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays!
