This summer the Ravinia Festival will show the concluding part of The Lord of the Rings trilogy to the live accompaniment of the award winning score by Howard Shore.
The Ravinia Festival is at Highland Park, Illinois. The Return of the King will show on screens in the Pavilion and on the lawn while the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performs the score. Ludwig Wicki will conduct and the orchestra will be joined by The Chicago Children’s Choir, Chicago Choral and the Lakeside Singers.
As if that wasn’t enough, every ticket buyer will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a one-of-a-kind, 18 carat gold “One Ring” inscribed with a special Ravinia-themed message in Black Speech.
The event is on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 August, 2014 at 7 pm. Tickets cost $25 to $50 and can be booked on-line.
