Original Tolkien Music Playlist

In the past we’ve posted playlists for a Middle-earth Dance Party, one for Instrumental Music, and now I wanted to create a playlist focusing on some original and amazing music people have created.

Adele McAllister

Adele is one of my favorite musicians, I can spend hours listening to her music. She has done many covers of J.R.R. Tolkien’s poems and songs, like In Western Lands Beneath the SunThe Oath of Fëanor and Roads Go Ever, Ever On. In fact, she has a whole playlist for her Tolkien songs on her Soundcloud. Though the words are from the stories, the music is all her. One of my all-time favorite songs from Adele is entitled Havens; both the music and lyrics are from her own creation. Find out more about Adele from our interview with her and listen to her music on her Soundcloud, Tumblr, and YouTube.

Martin Romberg

Martin’s Tolkien inspired music blows me away every time I listen to it. The Silmarillion is filled with a lot of action, emotion, and depth, and Martin’s orchestral compositions reflect all of those things beautifully. He has songs based off of Telperion and Laurelin, Ulmo, Eärendil and more. You can listen to Martin’s music from his official website by clicking on the button on the left that says “play.” Find out more about Martin and his music in our interview with him.

The Piano Guys

The Piano Guys have posted many, many fantastic videos on their YouTube account. Their cover of Lord of the Rings music has gained a lot of views over the past year, but that is not their only Tolkien-related video. They have a completely original song entitled Arwen’s Vigil that was written by Jon Schmidt, Al van der Beek and Steven Sharp Nelso. You can follow The Piano Guys on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Rich Tuttle

What is your favorite chapter from The Hobbit? Ever wondered what it would sound like as a song? Rich has created music based off of the chapters from The Hobbit.  The idea of writing music based off of the book came to him while doing a re-read before the first Hobbit movie came out. You can listen to the songs on his SoundcloudYou can read more about Rich our past interview with him, and follow Rich on Facebook, Soundcloud, and Twitter.
