Actors from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are donating items to the Anno’s Africa Charity Auction to help raise funds for art education projects for children in slums and AIDS orphans in Nairobi.
Sir Ian Holm, who plays Bilbo Baggins in LOTR, has donated a black leather trenchcoat worn in the Harold Pinter film The Homecoming (Lot 7)
Stephen Fry, who plays the Master of Lake Town in The Hobbit, has donated a tie he wore on Q.I. (Lot 11)
Benedict Cumberbatch has given his own Spencer Hart suit (tailors to Sherlock), worn and signed by him (Lot 16). Benedict has also written a letter supporting Anno’s Africa.
Aidan Turner, Kili in The Hobbit, has donated a first edition copy of the book Poldark signed by himself and actor Robin Ellis (Lot 47)
These items and others, such as Daniel Craig’s Bond shirt from Skyfall, a script and illustration for Being Human and Doctor Who production cards, can be found in catalogues 1 and 2.
The auction starts at 8 pm BST (UK time) on eBay today and runs until 14 September.
