When pupils at schools in the UK get to see a new anti-bullying film in November they may think the star of the film looks familiar and they’d be right! For it is none other than actor John Bell, who many will know as Bard’s son Bain in The Hobbit.
The anti-bullying film is an action comedy in which John plays Billy the Kid. John told The Gazette, ‘I play a 15-year-old boy who lives his life as a cowboy.
‘When he moves to a new school he is badly bullied but he overcomes this and gradually and wins the respect of his fellow pupils.
‘This film is a way of broadcasting the huge problem of bullying and, although it is a funny film, there is a very important message which is to take people as they are and not to judge but to celebrate our differences.’
John was delighted to get to do his own stunts in the film. He said, ‘It was great fun to play a cowboy for a week.
‘I was trained up by the world champion bull whipper for a day which was amazing.’
The film will be shown in high schools across the UK as part of the anti-bullying week in November.
