With fans as brilliant and talented as ones in the Tolkien community, it was only a matter of time before some covered the end-credits song for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, “The Last Goodbye”. We’ve all heard the original version by Billy Boyd, so now let’s take some time to hear other people perform the song. Because there are so many amazing covers that we want to feature, this will only be part one. So be on the look out for part two some time next week!
Taylor Davis
Taylor has created multiple covers for the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films (even one for The Lord of the Rings Online) and they are all brilliant! Her take on “The Last Goodbye” is a great addition to her list of Tolkien-themed songs and it’s wonderful to hear the melody being played on a violin.
Rachel Hardy
With the help from her brother Cam, Rachel beautifully sings her own take on the song. Being a huge fan of all things Tolkien, “The Last Goodbye” was extra special for Rachel considering it’s from the final film of the Hobbit trilogy. Make sure to watch until the end to find out more about the video.
Johannes Weber and Melanie Christensen
Like the others listed in this article, this cover of “The Last Goodbye” is well, amazing. And what I love most about Johannes and Melanie’s cover is the mystical feel you get with the recording and scenery. This is definitely something I see myself putting on repeat.

Charlie Hopkinson
I wanted to end the article with Charlie’s cover of the song because it was such a pleasant surprise to find it in my YouTube search! With this video you can hear some of your favorite LOTR/Hobbit characters recite “The Last Goodbye” including Boromir, Gimli and Elrond. His Thorin impression took me by such surprise because for a second I thought it was really Richard talking! He even did a cover for “I See Fire”, click here to watch it.
