Aidan Turner and John Noble were guests at MCM Comic Con at the weekend so Middle-earth News went along to check it out. Aidan, of course, played Kili in The Hobbit and John was Denethor in The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
It’s a while now since the last The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies were released so I wasn’t expecting a huge amount of Middle-earth cosplay but all the same I saw an excellent Thranduil, a scary Witch King and an occasional Tauriel, Kili and hobbit among the throngs of people there enjoying the day.
Aidan was there for Being Human along with fellow castmates Lenora Crichlow and Russell Tovey but, as his credits include The Hobbit and Poldark which both have strong
fanbases, people flocked to see him. There were more people wanting autographs and photos than the time allowed, but Aidan was a trooper and stayed at the show until every autograph was signed.
At the press conference Aidan talked a little of relating to his characters on a personal level. He said, ‘ I don’t know how you don’t get involved emotionally. You have to make these connections all the time then, before you know it, you’re so far in it’s hard to decipher which bit is you and which is the character. Yeah, I would think you give a lot to it. Yeah!’
